WINNING HANDS: Listed below find winning hands ranked in order lowest to highest. GOOD LUCK
High Card or no pair:
A hand in which no two cards have the same rank, not in sequence nor the same suit.
Ex: K,J,8,7,3-all different suits-King would be the high card
One Pair:
A hand which contains two cards of the same rank, plus 3 other unmatched cards.
Ex: 4,4,K,10,5
Two Pair:
A hand which contains two cards of the same rank, plus three cards of another rank.
Ex: J,J,4,4,9
Three of a Kind: --also known as trips or a set
A hand which contains three cards of the same rank, plus two cards of another rank.
Ex: 2,2,2,K,6
Straight:
A hand which contains five cards of sequential rank in unmatched suits.
Ex: Q, J,10,9,8 unmatched suits
Flush:
Five cards all of the same suit, but not sequential ranking.
Ex: 2,4,7,J,K of spades
Full House: --also known as a full boat
A hand which contains three of a kinds plus two or a kind.
Ex: 10,10,10,9,9
Four of a Kind:
A hand which contains four of the same rank cards.
Ex: 8,8,8,8,2
Straight Flush:
A hand which contains five cards in sequence all of the same suit.
Ex: Q,J,10,9,8 of clubs
Royal Straight Flush:
A hand which contains five cards in sequence ace-10.
A,K,Q,J,10 of hearts
TEXAS HOLD EM' TERMINOLOGY
All-in-To put all the rest of your money in the pot.
Big Blind-The largest of the two blinds, the blind that is put in by the player two Seats left of the dealer, except when 2 players are left, then the dealer is the small blind.
Blind-A forced bet for the first two positions at the table. The small blind is put in by the first position and the big blind is put in by the second position. The only time this changes is when there are two players left, at this point the dealer is the small blind.
Call-To put in the amount of money equal to the bets before you. Once everyone at the table has called or all the money is in the pot, play continues to the next round.
Check-When no one has bet in front of you and you do not bet.
Early Position-First player to act in a betting round.
Flop-The first three community cards, put out face up.
Heads up-When only 2 players are left in the game.
Hole Cards-Two cards in players hand.
Middle Position-Player that acts half way through the round.
Nuts-The best possible hand. When a player has the nuts, no one can beat their hand.
Position-Position of the player at the table, how far into the round the player has to act on his/her hand.
Pot Committed-A point when the player has so much money into the pot, they will
continue to stay in no matter what.
Raise-. to bet
River-The fifth and final community card.
Slow Playing-Playing a strong hand weakly.
Turn-The fourth community card. Put out face up by itself. Also known as "fourth street".
